Ever since SSL became an almost mandatory part of every website, thanks to Google, cPanel provides a free SSL certificate service powered by Sectigo. It’s a well-known fact that thousands of websites are currently on this service. Assuming you haven’t installed one in Cpanel, your server by default uses this certificate.
Every 90 days, AutoSSL renews the certificate for all the domains and sub-domains in your account. This renewal usually happens successfully automatically without any notification. On a few occasions where you see a notification, that is an indication that AutoSSL has faced an error. You’d also get an alert notification to your email alerting you of this failure. The message in the email looks like below:
DNS DCV: No local authority: “www.theinfoseclab.com”; HTTP DCV: “www.theinfoseclab.com” does not resolve to any IP addresses on the internet.
If you have subdomains, this error will be seen on all the subdomains as well.
